The Old Testament Commandments, Statutes, and Judgments

Jesus said that all the Law and the Prophets hang on the two great commandments of loving God and neighbor. The first four of the Ten Commandments hang on the injunction to love God, and the last six of the Ten Commandments hang on the injunction to love our neighbor. In addition, certain Old Testament statutes and judgments hang on each of the Ten Commandments, in that they tell us specifically and in detail as to how we are to keep them.

No More Guns?

The mass murder in Colorado has shown again the incredible acts of senseless and demonic violence of which man is capable. Questions are asked as to whether gun control would have prevented a “mentally disturbed” man to carry out his horrendous crimes; and whether the increase in violence, especially in movies and video games, could be blamed for those actions. Our fascination with guns will not create a better world. What is needed is a change of mind and heart. “It must be of the spirit if we are to save the flesh” (General Douglas MacArthur in 1951).

The Work

What is God doing now? Does He work, and is there really a work of God at the present time?  The Bible reveals that God is engaged in a great endeavor that He watches over, guides and blesses.  This most important activity also involves those who have become a part of the Church of God, and the clear meaning is that we have a job to do!

Self Examination

The process of self examination is not a static but rather continuous process realigning our thinking and actions to the mind  of Christ as we follow his example as laid out in scripture and His personal example in the gospels, using the fruit of the Spirit as the criteria.
