The Third Commandment

The third commandment is usually assumed to forbid using God’s name in a frivolous or vain manner. This is true, however, since we are a part of God’s family, we need to be careful that we do not profane God’s holy name by our actions. We are to be an example to others by our obedience to God and fully respect His name that we bear.
