In both the Old and New Testaments details are presented for observing the Day of Atonement. While there are physical aspects to fulfill, the spiritual applications are profoundly meaningful and important.

There is a lot of discussion these days about the desire for people to express their allegiances to various entities. From political parties, credit cards, teams, and even familial alliances, the question seems to be: where do you stand. When there is a tragedy, we see the flow of comments as to where people stand. The only beings that deserve unconditional loyalty from true Christians are the Father and His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this Sermonette we will consider various scriptures and examples that will illuminate this point.

When we compare the greatest of mankind’s plans with the plan of God, there is no comparison. God’s vision for the future is so vast and awesome that people’s imagination cannot even begin to comprehend it. Only with the mind of God, made possible by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, is it possible to know what God has in store. Having such a great promise, we can look beyond our present circumstances, focusing ahead on the greatness of God’s coming kingdom. With this knowledge about what God’s plan is, how can we prepare ourselves to actively participate in it today? 

What does the Bible say about the seven last trumpets, which are directly related to the annual Feast of Trumpets? Who will hear them? Will YOU hear them, if you are alive by the time when they are blown, whoever and wherever you are? Do the Bible and history give us any hint as how to answer this question?

The Feast of Trumpets reminds us that Christ’s return will bring judgment before restoration, and His word, the sword of truth, inevitably causes division in a world opposed to God. As we give our offerings today, we declare our loyalty to God, choosing to stand with His truth in faith and courage until the day of restoration arrives.

We often live under the illusion of control, convinced that we can direct our lives by our own will, yet Scripture shows this pursuit always ends in loss, frustration, and even destruction. From Adam and Eve to Job, Esau, and Paul, the Bible reveals that true peace and maturity come not through grasping for control but through surrendering to God’s will. The greatest freedom we can ever know is found not in self-rule, but in faithfully, humbly following the Father’s lead.

Is punctuality important to you? What might being late say about your character? Do you have excuses ready when you’re late? Could your lateness actually sin against God, your fellow human beings, and yourself? Is God ever late? Shouldn’t we also avoid being late?

The Bible distinguishes between prophets (spokesmen, inspired to proclaim God’s Truth) and seers (those given spiritual vision or perception), though at times, these roles overlapped, as with Samuel, Gad, and Nathan. Both were used by God to provide guidance, correction, and warnings, keeping His people aligned with His Law. While we may not have ordained seers or prophets today, Scripture reminds us to seek spiritual sight and courage, so we can live by God’s Truth even when it is unpopular.

This program gives many examples of the ongoing downfall of the USA and its deteriorating relationship with friends and allies, as well as frightening conduct by its enemies, notwithstanding wishful thinking and statements to the contrary. There is a reason for that, and God’s Church has a duty to proclaim this reason. This includes the fact that the USA will NOT win a major war anymore, as Herbert W. Armstrong so famously proclaimed.

Are you a true Christian, and if not, how can you become one? On the other hand, what must true Christians guard against to ensure they remain true Christians? The answers to these questions are of utmost importance and will determine your ultimate salvation.

“I don’t want to” is a saying which you should eradicate from your mind when you deal with sin and repentance.

When we read through the book of Judges, we might think that this book is just an historical record of the Children of Israel occupying the promised land and the obstacles they faced. However, when analyzed, their experiences could be a warning to us not to do what they did that aroused God’s anger against them.

Worship is such a basic function of Christianity that we rarely consider what it means and how to do it. What are the examples of worship in the Bible that we can learn from? As converted Christians, how does God want us to worship Him?

Our Savior, Jesus Christ, did please God, and we have His tremendous example to follow in order to attain eternal life in the Kingdom of God.

It is the largest of the world’s religions, and 2.4 billion people claim to be Christians! But is this the Christianity of the Bible or a counterfeit? Is your Christian faith real, or have you been deceived?

The world we live in constantly threatens to steal away our peace of mind and peace between one another. God offers us a sure path to experience lasting peace if we have the courage and faith to follow Him. The God of peace provides us with the opportunity to obtain the peace of God.

Christ told us to pay our taxes—to give Caesar what is Caesar’s. Paul repeats this and even says that tax collectors are “God’s ministers.” These statements must not be misunderstood. Even though we are to be subject to the powers over us, the concept of taxes is a curse. It is quite different from our obligation to pay God’s tithe.  The Bible includes many warnings for governments who overtax the people. It also shows the blessing of tax relief.

A young man is sent out into the world by his poor parents to seek a better way of life, only to find himself in many trials and tests, until he develops a change of heart by saving the ones he loves.  Within this story there are many symbolic principles in relation to the Bible which can be applied personally and/or spiritually in our lives.

The 10 Commandments are the basics in the laws of God. They are the cornerstones for any true practicing Christian. Yet, Christ goes on to tell us that the 10 Commandments are not enough in terms of going above and beyond. What does that mean and what does that look like?
