Light is oftentimes used in relationship to Christians, and some of the descriptive terms which are applied to the match can be helpful to review our challenge to be lights of the world.
 

The mindset we take as Christians in how we face trials can determine where we ultimately complete the race Paul spoke of.  Do we feel we are missing out on life’s temporary pleasures  as Christians?  Or do we have an attitude of praising God for the opportunity He has given to us—an opportunity that will grant us eternal life in the family of God!

God commands us to love Him with all our heart. How can we do this? The Bible does not teach that the natural man has a good and willing heart. At the same time, we do not read that God has created him with an evil and deceitful heart. How then did it become that way? And how is it possible to get ourselves a new heart?

Some teach that a seven year treaty will be adopted between a modern king of the North or the beast and a modern king of the South, consisting of Arab nations, just prior to the return of Christ, and that that treaty will be broken after 3 ½ years. Others teach that that treaty is going to be made between the king of the North and the Jews. They base this teaching on Daniel 9:27. However, this passage does NOT teach such a treaty, but something different altogether. It is VERY important that you understand the truth, because a wrong teaching might find you completely unprepared for the return of Jesus Christ.

We are warned to be prepaired for Christs return.  When God’s wrath is unleashed upon this world our preparedness is what will insure we don’t suffer.
 

What does the Bible tell us about blessings which we can receive from God, and which we should bestow on others? Is this only done in a very general way, or does the Bible also teach us about very specific and special individual blessings? How did God and His servants in the Old Testament bless individuals and entire nations? How can God’s blessings be bestowed on others today?

Many people who claim Christianity have gravitated to party politics–that is, they take sides based on their own slant on who is right and who is wrong.  However, it is far too easy to become polarized as we view what is taking place, and we must not allow ourselves to be drawn into the mire of this society and away from God’s Kingdom.

It has been said that faith can move mountains. But is this really true? What is faith? And what kind of faith do we need to please God? Can you work out this faith on your own? What kind of faith did Jesus have? Is it possible for us to have that same kind of faith? If so, how? This sermon will show us from many examples how strong Christ’s faith was, and how strong our faith needs to become.

All humans have emotions. And since God created humans, and we are created in His image, then that must imply that God also has emotions.  We must understand though the difference between good emotions and wrong emotions.

Does sin pay? Are sinners happy people? Are they more successful and blessed than others? Can they look with confidence at a peaceful future? The Bible shows us that none of this is true. Sin leads to disaster. It sets in motion an automatic chain of events. There is a cause for every effect. There is a fundamental difference between the righteous and the wicked. We will reap what we sow. Our sin will find us out.

After almost 2,000 years of being scattered from their homeland, Jews returned to establish the State of Israel on May 14, 1948. To this day, Jews have maintained their distinctive religious practices, and for some Jews–and even non-Jews–there is an expectancy of something more than historical relevance to justify the modern State of Israel.

Even in our physical residence, we are not spiritually at home. Christians are pilgrims and sojourners who are admonished to seek first the ultimate homeland – the Kingdom of God.

Are we convinced that we know the truth, that the Bible is in fact true? If we know what we read is true, how do we apply it in our lives and do we speak the truth with boldness?  The Bible is filled with many examples of those who spoke the truth with boldness, along with evidence that the Bible is the Truth.

The Bible speaks of the people of God as “Servants”. What does it mean to be a servant or a slave to God and to our fellow brethren?  Our actions should convey that we are willing to serve each other.  As we grow, we will learn to serve more.

Is Satan responsible for all the evil which we may encounter in our lives? Is it his fault when we don’t overcome sin? Of course, Satan has deceived the whole world, and he is the god of this present age. However, Christ came to deliver us from the power of Satan and to bring us to God. The Bible shows us that we can conquer Satan, but we are admonished not to turn away from the truth. Many have done this over the years, because they ignored important facts about Satan’s goal and intention. God declares to us that we will be victorious over Satan, when we draw near to God and stay close to Him. Do you know where you can find these promises in your Bible?

The Bible teaches that God will protect His church during the great tribulation at a place of safety here on earth. But how are church members to get there? And why did Christ say that we ought to pray that our flight will not occur in winter or on the Sabbath?

Prophecies of the Bible reveal many things, but none is more terrifying than what is commonly called, “the great tribulation.” The very existence of life on earth will hang in the balance, but God promises to intervene on behalf of the “elect.” Are you watching and are you ready to face what is coming? Will you be one of those whom God protects? Or are you willing to dismiss and reject the warnings God is giving to mankind?
